  • Pardesi Synagogue: Originally structured in 1568, this synagogue was partially destroyed by the Portuguese in 1662, and rebuilt after two years by the Dutch. It features an ornate gold pulpit and elaborate hand-painted, willow-pattern floor tiles from Canton, China.
  • Kerala Folklore Museum: This is a museum with over 4000 artefacts with three distinct architectural styles: Malabar on the ground floor, Kochi on the 1st and Travancore on the 2nd.   • St. Francis Church: This church was constructed in 1503 by the Portuguese, and is considered to be India’s oldest European-built church. The world-renowned explorer, Vasco da Gama was buried here for 14 years before his remains were taken to Lisbon. The tombstone still stands in the church.
  • Mattancherry Palace: This palace was a gift presented to the Raja of Kochi, Veera Kerala Varma, as a gesture of goodwill by the Portuguese in 1555. Since the Dutch renovated the palace in late 1600s, the palace was given a new name, the Dutch Palace.
  • Maritime Museum: This museum depicts the brave history of the Indian navy, and the maritime trade dating back to the Portuguese and Dutch eras. There are a lot of naval memorabilia, with a couple of model battleships in the museum garden.
